The Cuenca centre is a listed UNESCO world heritage site. The urban agglomeration wants to improve its transport system by construction of a tramway… but how to implant it on 11m wide streets within its historic centre and, further, how to assure the quality of life in the neighbourhood once equipped with the tramway? Our contribution to the project definition: from our experience in Réunion and many historic centers, educational work - on the implantation in separate lanes, on this type of neighbourhood, on urban work in layers, social support programmes and the built environment to make the passage of the tramway in the centre an urban project that contributes to the heritage and its durability.
