The Blaise Diagne International Airport of Dakar, in Senegal, is today surrounded by vast plains, forests, grazing glands and small settlements. The Airport City is at the centre of the transformation of this rural territory, and will initiate a dynamic through which new urban centres will be developed, turning the airport from an isolated infrastructure, into a federating elements between Dakar, Thiès and Mbour. The project will take advantage from a diverse program and from being located in the middle of the plains yet close to the Atlantic Ocean, at the articulation between protected natural areas and future urban areas, at the barycentre of the territory’s three most important cities.
