Tours town councillors wanted to confer upon their tramway project a, rarely asked for, global coherence between the design of the rolling stock and street furniture, urban development and public lighting, urban vision and public art... For this reason, an design charter was produced by a consortium led by RCP, designer. It proposes the means to make this tramway a new landscape within the city… We worked on this base by deliberately locating the tramway along the axis that structures the city, carefully reworking the ground surfaces within the conservation area, by developing a sustainable vegetation project and accommodating Daniel Buren’s artwork within the station…
