The first Reims tramline runs 10km within a strongly contrasted urban context; residential neighbourhoods, suburbs, retail areas and the historic centre. Paying particular attention to the integration of the tramway within its environment and the sense of place, the project is sober and coherent. Views of city centre monuments are highlighted; the cathedral, theatre. Granite, light-coloured concrete, station furniture inspired by vineyard stakes together with rolling stock inspired by the champagne flute give the line its identity…
